A Bit About Our Founder
For Guy Olds, running Haven Avenue Properties this is a second career. His first was in the film and TV industry as a Camera Assistant which kept him busy for 32 years. Although based in Los Angeles, work took him all the way to Georgia and Kentucky in the US and Mexico, Germany, Hungary and the Soviet Union for those foreign assignments.
For nearly 10 years early in his career Guy ran and managed camera departments on multi-million dollar movies of as many as 10 people and as few as 2-3 people. Managing a camera department on a 6-8 week movie shoot is a lot like being a project manager on a rehab – a lot of moving parts and daily problems and issues to deal with.
Most of the last half of his career, 16 years to be exact, was spent in sitcoms. These are those half hour comedies seen on TV that are shot in front of a live audience. The most recognizable shows he worked on were Mad About You (4 years), Third Rock From The Sun (6 years) and 2 years on Spin City.
But in 2006 the sitcom industry literally crashed and burned as most productions were pulled from the air and Guy lost his job. After struggling in LA for a while he moved to New Mexico to work on movies and TV shows like Hide in Plain Sight and Breaking Bad but the Great Recession ended most film work in New Mexico and taking that as a sign that his days in film were numbered he got his real estate license and thus began his second career in real estate. First, as a realtor in Albuquerque, and now as an investor back in Southern California.
